Triangle Off-Road Cyclists
We’re glad you are interested in TORC (Triangle Off-Road Cyclists)! Believe us when we tell you that you becoming a member, or renewing your membership is kind of a big deal. 40% of your IMBA membership dues come directly to TORC, and form the majority of our club budget. With lots of involvement from club members, we put those dollars to good use.
- Advocate for mountain biking. Form and maintain relationships with land managers of county parks, private land, University of North Carolina and the Wildlife Resource Commission. Our relationships with parks include: Lake Crabtree County Park, Harris Lake CP, North Wake CP, New Light, UNC's Carolina North Forest, Research Triangle Park's RTP trails, Briar Chapel, Little River Regional Park as well as Durham County gateway parks like Solite and Campus Hills. This is the foundation for the next big benefit.
- Build and maintain trails all over the Triangle. TORC has helped build 10 miles of trail at Newland Community's Briar Chapel green housing development with 10-14 miles to go. TORC helped Forest Ride City Park in North Raleigh plan multi-use trail as part of the park design – the first phase will have 5 miles built by the 2015. TORC applied and was granted for an RTP grant for Lake Crabtree County Park, helped Harris Lake County Park with their grant that was awarded and is also helping Raven Rock SP with their MTB trail goals and grants.
- Host group rides for every level. TORC started, maintains and pays for TORC Meetup as a tool to monopolize on the social internet capabilities of Meetup. We hope to give a widespread, free source for all mountain bikers and potential mountain bikers as well as current members to ride, socialize and to learn about the TORC\IMBA club. Please join us for any ride.
