To our customers,
Beginning January 1, 2022, we will be adding a destination fee to every bicycle we sell to cover new costs involved in shipping the bikes from the manufacturer. Children’s bikes will incur a $25 fee, adult bikes will incur a $50 fee, and e-bikes will incur a $80 fee.
We did not take this decision lightly. We want to be honest and transparent with you by sharing our reasons for this change.
You have probably read or heard about the disruption in the global supply chain over the past two years. Due to factors far outside our control, we are no longer able to obtain free shipping on our bicycles, regardless of the size of the order, and manufacturers are now charging between $25 to $150+ for each bike they ship to our facility. This is the first time in the history of our company that we’ve faced this challenge. We don’t have the ability to absorb these additional costs, and want to avoid making cuts that would reduce the quality of the services we provide to you, our customers.
We have witnessed other industries face these same challenges and make the choice to reduce wages, benefits, or services offered in an attempt to offset the increased cost of doing business. Instead, they end up with poor and reduced customer service. We do not want to follow this same path in a race to the bottom.
We’ve been dedicated to serving cyclists in the Triangle for over 40 years, and we look forward to providing this same level of service for many more years to come. We hope you will understand the need for these fees and how they will enable us to continue to provide the high level of customer service you’ve come to expect from our staff and stores.
We thank all our customers for their continued business and support and wish you very happy holidays as we near the end of a challenging year.
